We’ve lived in this community since 1999. Lake of the Woods is known for what the name promises: two lakes and a lot of trees. Main Lake and Keaton’s Lake, heavy canopy, and the kind of shade and moisture that are beautiful for living — and tough on roofs.
Needles, leaves, algae, and damp shingles show up here more than on an open sunny ridge. Roofs stay wet longer. Limbs come down in storms. When a roof is tired, we recommend a proper replacement — not a short-term patch that fails under lake-community conditions. Needles and leaves in the troughs are why some Lake of the Woods houses want gutter guards — quoted separately, not automatic with the roof.
